Are animal health supplements the same as those for people?

Not really, even though ingredients may be similar and the products manufactured in facilities that also make human dietary supplements, animal health supplements are formulated to address the specific requirements of our pets. They require different doses of active ingredients plus, we add natural flavors to make them very palatable.

Where are PureLife 4PETS Supplements made?

PureLife 4Pets supplements are made in the sunshine state of Florida. Here we manufacture, store, ship and manage all of PureLife 4PETS products.

Besides the active ingredients, what else is in each formula?

Besides the active ingredients, each formula contains a set of excipients. Excipients are the inactive ingredients; some are used to allow the tablet or chew to keep its shape after production. Others like in pet supplements are used for flavor. PureLife 4Pets ONLY uses natural flavors that are attractive for each species.

Why should I start giving my dog or cat supplements and at what age should I start?

Supplements are usually divided into different categories or segments such as, joint support, multi-vitamins, antioxidants, etc. Your pet’s breed and age are the two key factors we believe you should consider on when to start a supplement regimen. In both dogs and cats larger breeds are prone to joint related issues. Puppies and kittens will benefit from products with ingredients that promote their proper development and maintain a healthy immune system. Active dogs that that enjoy a day at the park, that go jogging with their owner or go hunting can benefit from a broad-spectrum antioxidant. Outdoor cats or cats that are more active will also benefit from a powerful antioxidant.

We strongly recommend that your veterinarian is aware of any supplementation at any stage of your pet’s life.

Why do we use krill oil instead of salmon or fish oil?

Because at PureLife 4Pets Ingredients DO matter. Krill Oil contains Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA which supports healthy skin and coat and cardiovascular health.

Krill Oil (the source of our Omega 3) unlike fish oil, is absorbed and carried to the body’s cells in phospholipid form (shorter chain and easier to break up). Fish oil omega 3 fatty acids are carried by triglycerides (longer chain more difficult to break up) and have less efficient cell uptake. Studies in the human version have shown that 3 fish oil offers about 65% absorption of fatty acids, while krill oil omega 3 offers 95-98% absorption.

What is Astaxanthin?

Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant that protects EPA and DHA from oxidative and free radical damage. Additionally, the astaxanthin used for our product is  supplied by one of the premier suppliers of high quality astaxanthin in the world. They use a patented extraction process which creates a high quality, stable product. Plus, their oxidation blocker  technology ensures the long-term (24 months) stability and efficacy of your pet’s supplement. It’s also done in the absence of oxygen – which reduces degradation and chemical changes in the product.

This super-critical extraction process:

  • Produces an extract untouched by chemical solvents
  • Creates astaxanthin practically free of impurities and residues
  • Offers some of the highest efficacy profiles of any extracted products

Our supplier shuns the use of preservatives in their efforts to stabilize the astaxanthin. Instead they use their proprietary oxidation blocker system, which:

  • Is 100% natural
  • Is non-GMO
  • Is designed to protect sensitive oils until they are consumed
  • Combines botanicals to prevent unwanted chemical reactions
  • Protects expensive and sensitive ingredients
  • Extends the shelf-life of oils
  • Boosts the effectiveness of other anti-oxidants like vitamin E, because it can chemically quench stable vitamin E free radicals

Why does my pet need an antioxidant?

Antioxidants are chemicals that delay the start or slow the rate of cell oxidation. Oxidation is a natural bi-product of generating energy in which unstable molecules are produced. These unstable molecules in their search to stabilize themselves may cause damage to healthy cells. Everyday examples of this oxidation are apples turning brown, metal rusting and pennies turning green. In living organisms including humans, dogs and cats this oxidation can damage critical components of DNA and cell membranes. The results can lead to premature aging, low energy, and many deficiencies.

Antioxidants are capable of donating electrons in order to stabilize the molecule, terminating the chain reaction before healthy cells are damaged.

Poor eating habits, unhealthy diets, table scraps, toxins in our air and stress have had a dramatic increase in the amount of unstable molecules circulating through our pets’ bodies.

This is why a potent antioxidant will be of great benefit to your pet’s health. PureLife 4Pets Antioxidant Protection has literally trillions of electrons ready to be given up to stabilize the potentially damaging molecules, rendering them harmless.

What is NASC and why some pet supplements have their seal and others don’t?

“The National Animal Supplement Council is a non-profit industry group dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health of companion animals and horses throughout the United States. NASC was formed in 2001 when the multibillion dollar animal health supplement industry was threatened by a complicated and erratic regulatory environment.”

“As part of its ongoing effort to improve and standardize the animal health supplement industry, NASC initiated its Quality Seal Program. The seal is a way for consumers to know that when they buy a product, they buy from a reputable company. NASC members must agree to adhere to NASC’s quality standards which include submitting to an independent audit to ensure conformance with quality system requirements.”

“Consumers should look for the NASC Quality Seal. Purchasing products from NASC members is the best way consumers can support efforts to improve the quality of animal health supplements and ensure the continued availability of these products in the US market.” (Quoted from www.nasc.cc)
